I won

I want to tell you about Monday

Hi Reader

I presented at the Women's Sport and Wellbeing Summit at Northumbria University. A research conference. Physiologists, sport scientists, academics, practitioners. The kind of room I have been working toward for a long time.

My poster was titled:

The Missing Variables in Strength Training for the Highly Stressed Woman.

The argument was simple. The case for training women differently from men is established. Hormonal health, cycle phases, life stage — the evidence base is growing. But for highly stressed women, two variables remain almost entirely absent from both research and applied practice. Nervous system regulation. And neurodivergent experience.

The women I work with are not inconsistent. The framework was never built for them.

I walked around that room. I spoke to researchers, lecturers, practitioners. I asked questions, made connections, and stood by my poster while people stopped to read it.

And at the end of the day I was awarded best poster presentation.

I am telling you this not to perform achievement. I am telling you because for a long time I wondered whether the work I do in my studio — the breath before the lift, the fascial release, the nervous system regulation that happens before a single weight is picked up — belonged in an academic room.

It does.

Something else happened this week that I want to share.

I built a protected Wednesday into my week. A non-negotiable morning for restoration. Breathwork, a slow breakfast, painting, writing, the gym. No clients, no admin, no content until the afternoon.

I have been preaching nervous system regulation for years. This week I finally gave it to myself.

It was glorious.

And if you are in London — Saira Hunjan is exhibiting at the Bhavan and I want you to go.

I have been fortunate to experience Saira's work on a deeply personal level. A Devi tattoo from over ten years ago. Her heart space workshops. And now this.

The space is filled with sounds of the inner space. Calming, ambient, alive with mesmerising work. At first you see the figure of Devi. But if you sit and observe, the drawings begin to move. Always expanding outward into the meditation space. Eyes found throughout — speaking of focus, of inner observation.

The longer you stay, the more emerges. A spider woven with intricate Indian patterns. Staircases winding toward the universe. Chakras pulsating and turning.

I felt dizzy with the depth of each piece, needing to sit between them just to breathe and absorb.

You could meditate upon any of them. Go.

What actually happened while I was quiet. Hi Reader I have not sent a newsletter in a few weeks. If you noticed, you might have wondered what was going on. Nothing dramatic. No burnout, no big life event. I simply stopped producing for a while. Most of us treat quiet like it needs an explanation. Time away from output gets filed under lazy, behind, or recovering from something. Rarely does it get filed under working. Here is what actually happened. I wrote. Properly wrote, on the book, in the...

You already have the power. This teaches you when to release it. Hi Reader I want to tell you something that took me a long time to actually believe about myself, and that I now see in nearly every woman who walks into my studio. You already have the power. That was never the question. What changes isn't your capability. It's your capacity, day to day, sometimes hour to hour. Sleep, cycle phase, cognitive load, how much you've been holding for other people. None of that is fixed, and none of...

My Fitbit congratulated me on a good night's sleep. It was lying.. Hi Reader The moment I overslept by two hours last night. Restless night, no obvious reason on the surface; so I did what most of us do now and blamed my hormones. Then I opened my wearable app. Ten hours sleep. High quality. Congratulations!!!. I wanted to throw it across the room. The gap nobody talks about Most wearables infer sleep and recovery from movement and heart rate variability. Stillness reads as rest. But your...
