What actually happened while I was quiet

What actually happened while I was quiet.

Hi Reader

I have not sent a newsletter in a few weeks. If you noticed, you might have wondered what was going on. Nothing dramatic. No burnout, no big life event. I simply stopped producing for a while.

Most of us treat quiet like it needs an explanation. Time away from output gets filed under lazy, behind, or recovering from something. Rarely does it get filed under working.

Here is what actually happened. I wrote. Properly wrote, on the book, in the kind of stretches that do not exist when I am also posting, replying, and running sessions back to back.

The book is ADHD, My Body, My Power. It follows three parts. ADHD and the nervous system. The body as the bridge between what I was carrying and what I could not yet say. And power, which is not the loud kind, but the kind that comes from finally listening to what my body had been telling me all along. It draws on things I have never written about publicly before. Training in Kathak. What it means to grow up South Asian and neurodivergent, holding expectation in your body long before you have language for it. The moment strength stopped being something I performed and became something I actually felt.

It is not a fitness book. It is closer to the thinking behind everything I do in the studio, just told through my own body first.

Separately, I went back to basics on breath. Not the version I use as a warm-up cue, but the mechanics underneath it. How efficient breathing actually changes what the nervous system has available to do, before any effort is asked of it.

Those two things are more connected than they look. A book does not get written from a body that is bracing. Neither does clear, precise breath happen while you are half-managing five other things. Both needed the same condition. Space, with nothing chasing it.

I keep coming back to this idea that the fastest progress rarely comes from pushing harder. It comes from letting a quiet stretch be quiet, without treating it as a problem to fix or a gap to justify.

If the last few weeks of silence had you wondering what was going on, now you know. It was working. Just not in the way that gets posted.

You already have the power. This teaches you when to release it. Hi Reader I want to tell you something that took me a long time to actually believe about myself, and that I now see in nearly every woman who walks into my studio. You already have the power. That was never the question. What changes isn't your capability. It's your capacity, day to day, sometimes hour to hour. Sleep, cycle phase, cognitive load, how much you've been holding for other people. None of that is fixed, and none of...

My Fitbit congratulated me on a good night's sleep. It was lying.. Hi Reader The moment I overslept by two hours last night. Restless night, no obvious reason on the surface; so I did what most of us do now and blamed my hormones. Then I opened my wearable app. Ten hours sleep. High quality. Congratulations!!!. I wanted to throw it across the room. The gap nobody talks about Most wearables infer sleep and recovery from movement and heart rate variability. Stillness reads as rest. But your...

Strength. Power. Energy. Hi Reader I want to try something different in this email, because of a conversation I keep having with myself about how women actually want to be spoken to. Nobody wants to be told they're tired, stressed, and in need of rest. You already know that about yourself. Being told again just makes you want to prove it wrong by pushing harder. I do it too. So instead, I want to start with what Active Shakti actually means. Not the vibe of the name. The translation....
